FAQ: How Often are Headlines Updated?

StateNewslines is a quick, convenient way to stay current with all the news in your state. Many users have asked how current are the news headlines?

More than 90% of the news sources we monitored are updated each hour. You’ll see a small timer underneath each news source showing you how long it has been since the last update.

It takes a fair amount of processing time and bandwidth to search, parse and aggregate these public headline links for you - so we’ve set the maximum threshold for updates to one hour. If you need even more current news - simply click on the name of the news source and it will take you directly to the content provider where all the latest news is posted.

Several publishers such as weekly newspapers and many magazines are updated less frequently. In those cases, we run a daily search aggregation to look for new news articles and update your news page daily for those publishers.

FAQ: Can I View Past Headline History?

Many users have said when they are away for a few days, that it’s sometimes difficult to quickly catch up on past news. Our main screen just shows the most recent 15 articles from each news publisher in your state. For some publishers that might just be a few hours of stories, others a day or even a week's worth of news.

Now you can click on the ‘See More Headlines’ link next to the title of the news source or after the list of headlines. You'll get a quick, concise look at the that particular publisher's past news.

We work to index the main/most popular sections of many publishers. This is a great way to ‘look back’ at past news. We hope you enjoy this new feature.

Many users have said its a convenient feature that is greatly appreciated and helps them save time when catching up with some of their favorite news sources after being away for a while.

Remember too, that most publishers show their articles published in their free sections of the site for a little while. Often after a few days or a couple weeks - then the publisher moves their articles into registered areas or even paid archive areas.

We reference the link of the original article which usually gets you right to the article or the archive for the story.
