Okay, so you have added your favorite news sources to your My News page. You're saving more time than ever, and you're keeping up on all of the latest headlines. Life is good. But what if you want to see a timeline listing of recent headlines from favorite sources, or you only want to see a specific type of news posted a few days ago?
That big grey bar above your sources on the My News page can solve your problem. This bar allows you to switch your source view to a timeline, filter your news by topic, or see as far back as five days. It can be overwhelming, but don't worry-- that's what I'm here for.
Let's walk through the components of the grey bar to better understand how it can help you find articles of interest.
- The 'View Headlines' toggle. The default view on your My News page sorts the headlines by publisher. This is also the default view for all pages on the site. If you select "By Time," you will see a "feed" view of your headlines displayed in order of recency. This is a great way to see the absolute latest headlines quickly.
- This is your news filter. The default view displays all of your news sources, while you can select filters for sports, politics, press releases, or national news to display only those.
- The date select. Here you can choose to see single-day headlines for as far back as five days.
Well, that's the grey bar. The mysteries have been unlocked. Next time you're perusing your My News page, give it a try, and tell us what you think!
